Ovaries are reproductive organs which are prone to various kinds of cyst and diseases that they might lead to abdominal pain. Many doctors have the opinion that abdominal pain and ovarian cysts go hand in hand. Various types of ovarian cysts produce various symptoms.

There are certain kind of ovarian cysts which do not cause any kind of symptoms and might be known accidentally during a normal check up done by a gynecologist but certain kind of ovarian cysts reveal their existence in the ovaries by producing moderate to severe abdominal pain. Abdominal pain ovarian cysts can also cause heaviness in the abdomen (lower region).

Women who have abdominal pain and ovarian cysts might experience pain during or after intercourse. The reason for abdominal pain might be due to the twisting of the ovarian cysts or due to enlargement of the ovarian cysts or due to bleeding or due to the normal blood flow getting stopped. Abdominal pain ovarian cysts can also cause various other symptoms that includes constipation (due to the pressure applied on the rectum) and frequent urination (due to the pressure on the urinary bladder). Since the hormone secretion is disturbed it might lead toward irregular menstrual periods and even can cause infertility in women.
